I think that before you do anything you need to determine what style of play suits you......listen, some people will tell you they only play xxxx hands and then another person may tell you that they only play yyyyy hands but it doesnt really matter. That is their style, not yours. There is no ONE right way to play. Certain players are very aggressive and play very loose pre-flop cause they now they can outplay the others post flop ( i.e gus hanson and daniel negreanu), while others are very tight pre-flop cause they want to minimize the tough decisions they have to make ( i.e Dan harrington and david sklansky). That being said, you generally want to play tight until you become more experienced. But, what I suggest you do, is go out and buy SuperSystem ( By Brunson) and also go buy any book written by sklansky and see what style works best for you ( do it on cheap tables though, lol). Brunson will give you perspective from a very aggressive player and sklansky will give you perspective from a very tight player....the just play.....lots.......and lots more. Poker is just like anything else in life, you got to practice and put your hours in if want to do any good.....but I think milkman's requirements will go you just fine while you start out. |
