Default holdem players tend to move away from limit ringed games?

i started off playing low limit ringed games for bonuses but lately I'm frustrated with them. I've been playing NL freerolls and love NL sit & go's, now when i go back to the limit ringed games i sometimes still like hands that i would normally like in NL but that dont do well in limit.
is it a natural evolution to move away from limit ringed games, or do some of you just move to higher limits and still play limit?

It depends on the players.... some do go from fixed limit, to NL. I still prefer to play live limit, but I moved up to the $10/$20 live games... Online, I still prefer NL just because there are easier targets. Play where the money is.

The trouble with limit is not being able to bet people off the hand, so bluffing is hard and getting rid of bare ace an draw chasers is hard so you suffer lots of suck outs. The trouble with no limit is there are still people who don't know when to fold, there are fewer suck outs, but they cost you a wholoe lot more.

Moving up in any form of poker will reduce the number of people like this you have to play against, but you will still get idiots, they are just rich idiots.

But, annoying as these people can be on a hand to hand basis, long term they are your bread and butter. It's hard to remember that sometimes, and I have to hold my hand up as guilty there, but you need idiots to make a profit from.

What really bugs me though is not some guy sucking me out on a bad play,,,,,,no,,,,,,it is the moron who says "nice hand", as though there was something clever about playing that badly.

Just a matter of preference really Mahdrek.

NL holdem is the most popular game now but there are players who just happen to prefer playing the limit holdem game - at all levels up to professional.

I suppose a lot of players start off playing limit, maybe because the betting pattern is easier for a beginner to handle and also because they don't have a bankroll that would withstand loses at NL tables.

I think it's just a case of what type of poker suits your personality and I think, argueably, limit poker may be a game that suits the mathematical/probability/EV experts.

I didnt much take to limit poker at first, found it a bit dull (and I'd lose) I play mostly no limit holdem but I do now enjoy the odd game of limit holdem and also prefer limit games in omaha h/l.

It is quite a different game and like you said hands which you might start with in NL often don't have the same value at a limit table, so you have to change your thinking.

THF Player of the Year
Playing Limit holdem ring games have improved my No Limit tournament play.
In Limit it is all about saving bets, that's where your profit is. Know when to get out of a hand even it will cost you just 2 big bets or even just one.

Applying this style to No Limit it will make sure you don't get in too much trouble and you will know when to fold. The damage done in Limit isn't that big but in NL it will knock you out of the tournament.

As Racingdog said, in Limit you will have to play against the biggest chasers in the world and sometimes one of them will suckout and hit their card. The other times one of the other players will suckout an hit their cards. Question is: What are you going to do against it? If you know how not to lose against them in Limit it will make you a better NL player.
