Default NL sit & go question

i just discovered these and love them probably because i'm doing well in them.
i only play at the $1 ten person rooms, i was wondering when does the skill level of the players go up, is there a noticable difference right away? am i only winning cause at this level im playing people that are new to them? im at prima skins right now. guess i could find out by moving up but was wondering if anyone has any insight

thanks

Not a prima player, but think between 1 and 10 youll find the same mix of players.20 and 30 youll see a difference or maybe just feel the difference because youre risking more.
Seen some dollar players who were better than those on the 30 and 50s,but everyone starts somewhere

I don't have too much experience in the various SnG levels, but this seems to be the general trend (with exceptions here and there):

$1-3: EASY money
$5: Players are a little better at this level, they generally consist of those who play poker regularly but don't have the bankroll to do anything else - and the $1-3 players are too f*ckin annoying.
$10: Skill level of each player is either slightly higher than a $5 regular, or around the level of a $1-3 player. This is because you have donks who decide to put $200 on a poker site, and while they don't know how to play poker for their life, decide that $10 is the best place to play, as they aren't losing much (to them), and are able to get a decent profit if and when they cash (whereas $1 SnGs give you a $4 profit, IF you get 1st).
$15+: Level of play just goes up and up from here, although from time to time you will get the retard who just won big in a $1 MTT, or placed in a sattelite and thinks their good enough to play high levels.

Yeh, I'd say the same. Personally I sem to find wins more often at $10 tourneys than I do below that. Over $10 I wouldnt know since I don't play those.

The $1 might have less skilled players on the whole but sometimes you have no idea what to expect from those players, so they arent easy and can be very frustrating. You get some poor players at both $5 and $10 but also some good players.

If you're winning regularly and playing a solid game at $1 Mahdrek, then I don't think there's a reason to expect a big difference in the play up to $10.

thank you all, sounds like exactly what i wanted to hear or was hoping for
getting frustrated with bonus chasing at fixed limit ringed games esp at .50/1 range
look forward to discovering other branches of sit & go's such as: the 3 and 2 table versions and satelites, and whatever is out there lol

anything under 20s are going to be primarily donks and you'll notice you can get a lot of chips early

20s-40s the play tightens but you can still get chips

40s-200s the play gets better and often times the blinds get quite large with still 4-5 players left in

I play quite a bit of $10+1 on party poker, and can't stand to go any lower than that. Anything lower than that and people seem to have a hard time laying down a hand, and the variance is a lot larger. I also find that I need to adjust my strategy for different levels. For the $11 dollar ones I tend to play tight early on. But where as when I play the $22, or $33 dollar ones I usually try to get between 10% and 20% of my stack in the first level, as players play a lot tighter, and are willing to lay down hands. This also gives me a better table image, as I will switch to playing extremely tight in the second level, and get paid off a lot more than if I played tight. You will also notice that their are a lot less coinflips as you move up in the levels.

If you can profit at the $1 SnG's after say 50 games then you should do fine at the $10 games also. SnG's is all about consistant play over many games. Keep records and see if you can maintain a profit over several games.
