Default Why not show and/or rabbit?

I realize it's probably a stupid question but I'd like to know. I can maybe understand not showing but why not rabbit hunt? I'd still like to know thoughts about showing as well though.

When you show your hand, you are giving free information to how you play. A strong point in poker is to keep your opponent guessing about what you have. Once they have a good idea on how you play, they can take advantage of it. People gain info by seeing what you hold and going over how you played it. If they see your cards, they should have to pay for it. Free information can only hurt you.

However, there is something to be said for showing a hand to set up a different play, but its risky.

Early on in a game, I will show some of my premium hands. I do this because it sets up the image that I play very good cards. In an MTT, it usually winds up being once, maybe twice, per table. Later on, when you need to steal those blinds to stay alive, that image helps. Now this works with the way I play my game because it doesn't give away as much information as most people would like to think, but might not with different strategies.

I will never show a bluff... ever. Some people might just to show off, others might show the bluff and then tighten up in order to get people into pots they shouldn't be in in the first place. I don't like this strategy online just because donks like to suck out on you enough as it is, so I don't want them in the pot "just to keep me honest". If you never give them a chance to suck out, you're winning already.

With the Merge software which Carbon poker uses you cannot choose between Show or just Rabbit. If you use the Rabbit function your cards are automatically shown to the other players at the table.

When playing games there I also want to see what they turn or river would have been but I don't want others to see my cards so I fold.
