i dont agree with everything in there but everyone has different strategy but most of it sounds great and seems like it would work. thanks for the new strategy to try out some time.

Hey I know there are a ton of different winning strategies out there, but draw chasing and playing an overly loose-passive game ain't one of them

Straights and flushes can and do run into higher straights and flushes, or even higher hands. Lulling the reader into a false sense of security by inadvertantly implying "this works" is somewhat remiss.

In fact that last one has had me mystified for a very long time. Every writer I've ever seen use the words, "bust him when you hit", about any type of hand, has always utterly failed to mention the possibilty of hitting and still losing. Why is this blind spot so universal?
I'm pretty sure (speaking for myself here obv) that when players are saying this "when we hit our SC's or PP's we will bust the guy".. is because we're really hoping to be playing this hand in position against a typical player who is unable to get away from an ovrpair on a seemingly, somewhat harmless board (or TPTK hands). When we have implied odds of 15:1 and are set-mining, we will be able to stack villain off fairly often when we do hit (esp. if they're the type of player who can't get away from big PP AA/KK & if stack sizes won't have them getting away from it either). Sure we're 8:1 to hit our set, & obviously we're not going to 'bust them out' everytime when we do hit our set (this is why we are looking for effective stack sizes to be 15x the size of the initial raise to compensate for this & why it is -EV to be set-mining when stacks aren't this deep (although not always as there are some situations which would warrant set-mining with less than 15:1... but 15:1 is a good guideline).
