Clasic advice on hands Many will ask for advise on hands...Hands are Hands and just that, they are blank hands and get blank advise. A big raise take down with 46o might be great advise when successful in the right situation, in another situation it might be laughable advise. Advise does not apply to a hand in 100 different situations and the same hand might be played quite differently in each of the situations...it's a you have to be there type of thing. Criticizing a hand in a forum is laughable and absurd...you weren't there, how do you know?...and I'm not just talking about pre-play, pot size, position and the like...I'm talking about the complete game...if you don't know the complete game then you know nothing and are far removed from giving expert advise and are definitely not one to criticize.
Hands can be compared to a lot of things...let's just use, building an automobile here. Now I have an engine and drive train here, how do I build the rest of the automobile? Well first of all, what does it look like?...is it large or small? is it powerful, mediocre or a dog...you might relate that to cards from AA down to 72o and then suited or not as to power and size of your engine. If it's powerful and large you might consider it for a workhorse truck, powerful and small might be considered for a sports car...this might be high pocket pocket pairs or high suited
connectors. Do I sup it up if I am going to use it in a sports car? that depends, is it a recreational sports car or one to be used for racing...do I raise with my pockets, that depends, what do my opponents look like, are they aggressive or passive? I'm gonna use my sports car for racing, what transmission gear ratio should I use? how about drivetrain ratio and powertrain torque? again it depends on the type of racing, is it oval track. street, drag, stock car or rally racing? in some you might want short burst of speed in others you might want high end, with quite a variety in between,,,the same with cards, am I against the drag racer? should I put him all-in pre-flop or lead him into putting me all-in pre-flop? or am I against the rally racer and do burst of raises and re-raises? maybe my opponent is an endurance racer and I just might pace my betting and pour it on at the river, or maybe I want a low gear ratio for check raising the opponent that might suck out on me in the long run.
I could go on and on, but you get the idea...every situation is not the same and your pocket cards are not the same in all situations.
Now if you just play your cards and don't pay attention to anything else...well then I guess you don't have to be there...but good luck on your wins anyway.
