Default Some thoughts from the Pros

I thought this was good.

Pros give their thoughts at each stage of a hand as you watch them play.

Click the 'Try it now' button and you can view a demo. There's about 8 hands.

Joe Beever's plays some NL hold em and Matthew Hilger some limit hold em.

Predict their plays and pat yourself on the back when they play a hand just as you would or read with interest when their actions might differ from your own.

Poker Tutor

There's been some recent posts regarding learning about 'position' I think these demo's would help explain things well.

THF Player of the Year
There are many Dutch forums popping up where pro's show movies how they play. Ofcourse you have to pay to see the movies or download pokersites from their links and generate a lot rake. The more rake you generate the more movies you get to see at higher limits and more strategy talk. What pro's won't do to make some extra money...

It all sounds good because you get to see how a pro plays a hand or hands. But are we really going to learn something from these videos? Will it turn someone into a winning player? You will never have the same reads and table image as the pro's do. Also different goals and chipstack wil make you play different.

In that clip where there were 4 diamonds on board the pro was lucky that his opponent didn't had a club. In that exact situation next time you will do the exact move as the pro did but the only difference will be that your opponent will have diamond to beat you. I also can post movies where my read was excellent (or I was lucky) to show what a brilliant player I am.

Well Mr Keizer I shall have to disagree with you - but not wholly as per.

Yeah it seems like Pros will go to lengths to make extra money..but we know this and it will always be the way. Moreso now, in this age of new-fangled-techno-blinkyflashy-buttons-buy-this-wohoo-bright-lights-heavy-chested-t'internet world we live in.

The videos on the demo are free to watch and I wasn't saying we should all rush out and buy the rest of them. The ones I saw I thought were pretty good in the fact that we get to see some of the stage-by-stage thoughts of the particular professional player as he plays through the hand.
The info can be digested in a different way than info from a book. It might suit some people.
I thought they would also be helpful for some of the newer players here who were recently asking what position meant.

Yes, I'll accept your points regarding your opponents, your stack, your goals etc but by necessity we don't mindlessly follow everything we read or see when we are learning do we. Similarly, when we choose to buy and read their books, we also have to accept the fact that Harrington and Brunson etc are often playing in different circumstances to us.

I could read how a professional heavyweight boxer drew an opponents lead and knocked him out with a counter punch. I could watch that on video too but I wouldn't necessarily think I could go out and emulate that. I wouldn't put the book down after reading and go out to a bar and smack a big fatty on the chin.
And furthermore, in real life big-fatties usually have more than one chin - so things aren't as simple as they seem.
