Cool Fraud

Hi THF,

I was in Absolute poker and went in because they were doing the No deposit Bonus. I then was shut down and all my money was taken...They thought I was registering under multiple names to get the bonus.

Thankfully their poker room manager investigated and found out I didnt...i was Livid. They ended up giving me 10 dollars for stay with us and dont go back to PokerStars money. I was ok with it...Just some info to give you the atmosphere of the room

Andrew

Yeah i did this too...and received an email saying that i was shut down for suspicion of multiple names. They eventually opended it back up as well. I think somebody actually did use multiple names and almost ruined it for the rest of us.

thats strange its happened to a few players - maybe theyve had problems with their database or something

suppose you need to look at it that theyre actively trying to stop people cheating...maybe a bit too hard - lol

its understandable and although it can happen sometimes it makes me feel alot more secure playing at a site if they do have precautions in place to stop this sort of thing. Teaming or playing at the same money table with an alt. or clone is cheating and if done well can win someone alot of money, Its good to know that this system is in place, and althoguh it can sometimes happen to the wrong people, no-one would want to abolish the police force because they occasionally arrest the wrong guy for murder, expect maybe the murderer himself, and the innocent guy, althoguh usually appropriately compensated.

I think that it's a good thing, however, it would prolly be better if they made sure and investigated BEFORE they shut the account down. That way, it wouldn't come as such a shock.

I'm sure all online poker sites have their own precautions to make sure that multiple acounts don't happen.

Wow that is weird. You are lucky that Absolute Poker has great support. I heard from another forum that someone got shut down on Party Poker for the same thing. He tried emailing he even tried calling but nothing. I am glad you got your account back and everything is back to normal. Absolute will never take your money. It will ruin their reputation.

Thats wierd. How do they figure out you ahve more than 1 names? Like, I have 2 names.....hoboface and hobonico. the hoboface one I dont use anymore, which is why I created hobonico. I changed everything and never used hoboface again, so technically I have 2 names, but in reality I only use 1
